When pounding them into the ground they can bend if the dirt is too tough. **Q: Does the item match the picture - if not how is it different?** A: Yes the picture does match the product. I use them to anchor my hose reels into the ground and to secure netting around my pool area and have been very happy with the product. **Q: How long are they?** A: The ones I received were 6” **Q: Are these pegs stainless steel? How well do they hold up in a fire?** A: Not stainless. Don't know about fire use. I use them to anchor the bottom of my chain link fence, and they're still going strong after 5+ years in the ground. Rusted, but still solid. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy stakes, what's not to love..... *by A***E on December 10, 2014* You know, its difficult to say that I "love" these galvanized steel tent pegs. But clicking 5 stars is tantamount to saying "I LOVE IT" so I guess I have to live with that. I have used my tent pegs to anchor my three outdoor holiday lighted dog lawn ornaments to the ground. In previous years despite using the stakes that came with these lawn dogs, they have have fallen over or had their heads knocked off during wind or snow storms. So far these dogs have stayed upright and we've had some pretty heavy winds since I put the stakes in two weeks ago. So, that is my 5 star criteria. If I find that they don't keep my lighted pups safe over time, I will amend this review. But for now, that my view. They seem sturdy.BOTTOM LINE: I have no idea how they'd do in a tent but judging by how well they do with wind and large lawn dogs (see photo to get an idea), I'd say they'd be fine. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works Great *by W***B on May 25, 2011* I used these stakes to anchor some black plastic edging that came in a long roll. I used the edging around my garden. These stakes are perfect for the job and seem to hold the edging down and in place. They are much less expensive than other altenatives, most of which are much bulkier and are made out of plastic. I don't expect the the edging will lift up, as it would without the stakes to hold it down and in place.For GARDEN stakes, they are great. I suppose they'd also work for TENT stakes, but it seems to me that they would pull out of the ground fairly easily if there were any force on them (note, they are very smooth, round metal). For a tent, I'd get something heavier and with something on them to prevent them from pulling out of the ground. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Already used them once and they worked much better than my homemade ones that I made out of ... *by V***S on August 31, 2017* Already used them once and they worked much better than my homemade ones that I made out of the old wire clothes hangers . They worked great , I just cut them all to short. These were much longer and worked much better being so much longer . My tent did not come up during the rain storm that we had but with my homemade ones , half of my tent was collapsed and my spikes came up and I lost a few.I love these tent stakes and they are just what I needed.
