I do deviate from the suggested ingredients, sauteeing chopped onions and maybe some thinly-sliced carrots in coconut oil to begin with and sometimes adding shrimp or egg, after which, most often, I mix the cooked and flavored vegetables and other things all together with cooked short grain white rice or else serve the flavored things on top of unflavored cooked rice. So my Nasi Goreng dishes are probably a little different from the way Indonesians might use this product but they have great flavor every time.
