They are soft so I am able to scrape out the seeds if so desired. This may not be what you want and you may need the pods/beans dry for a recipe but if you are looking for a quality product, suitable for homemade extract (strong potency), clean and moist, you have found it! I hope your order is as good as mine. I’m super happy with it. It came quickly only draw back? Packaged in plastic, I prefer anything but. This brand and these beans were the absolute BEST! So much caviar in them that I was able to double my order of Vanilla sugar. They are nice and plump, and moist, I ordered 8 more ounces of these beans that will be here tomorrow. So far I've got 1 gallon of vanilla extract aging.
