Most went to the passenger side and a few went to the driver side. I pulled the panels on both and it looked like the passenger side was the way to go. The reason why I suggest getting only Toyota parts is the ease of install. Plug and play. The hardest part was getting the wires into the clips in the tailgate and frame. Other than that, it was super easy to install. I connected the wires prior to zip tying everything together to make sure everything fit correctly. Worked perfectly. Look at a couple YouTube videos and you will be ready to install. The dealer quoted me 175 dollars per hour and it would take them 1.5 hours. I don’t have a lift and it took me far less time. Saved a few hundred bucks, The lock isn’t as clunky as people made it sound. The Tacoma I installed this in is a 2023 Off-road short bed double cab.
