Thank goodness the times of women only mattering for the son's they could produced are over.Sir Kevin saved Annavieve and Annavieve healed Kevin. That both had a strong purpose in one another's lives, and beyond what others had planned for them. They were free to live with and for each other.I spent the whole story trying to predict what was going to happen from one turn to next, and I was outsmarted every time. That was refreshing and unpredictable. I didn't like the situation with Mimsi and I wish that she could have been allowed to hold her grandchildren.I was disappointed that the epilogue and the ending were somewhat rushed. There was a connection with the characters and then for the author to switch up and just tell us what happened so everyone could live happily ever after, I felt cheated. I would have liked a couple more chapters where we see their happy ending played out, not stated.As always though you definitely must read this story. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love found. *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2018* Kevin Hage is broken hearted by the love of his life, she has married another. He gets as far away as he can and builds a wall around that broken heart, with his friends Sir Adonis de Norville and Sir Thomas de Wolfe he heads to the Levant, and there he becomes “The Scorpion” After 6 years fighting alongside the Templers and Hospitallers as a hired assassin, Kevin is a man feared by all, as he strikes fast and death always follows. Tired of being in the heat and sand they long for the green hills of England and their families, they decide to go home, once there they find themselves at a tavern were Kevin gets into a fight and accidently kills a man whose death will have a huge effect on his life. I love all of Kathryn Le Veques books and you get so involved with some of the wonderful characters she greats. This is a story of love lost and love found, the beautiful Annavieve helps break down that wall and a love for all time comes to be, but not before a lot of things and events are thrown in their path. The story has grief from the loss of a parent, a couple of villains’ one a murderer and the other the Kings cousin who is ordered to marry Annavieve, a more hateful person I couldn’t imagine. Do they get their happy ever after, well yes but not until a lot of twists and turns are thrown in their path. Well that’s all I will say about the book I don’t want to be a spoiler and give away too much of the story, I know you will enjoy this book and the wonderful characters within, some of which you will recognize from some of Kathryn’s other books. I highly recommend all of them to you so happy reading. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.5 STARS. MY LEAST FAVORITE OF THE SERIES SO FAR! *by N***2 on Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2016* All through reading this I kept trying to figure out what was keeping me from loving this story? I never felt a connection to the H/h. The reason they came together was awful. The King told her if she ever needed him to let him know, but she never thought on it.I liked Kevin in the previous story, but he became hard and uncaring. The son's from Paris and The Wolfe join him for 6 years to fight in the Holy Land. It was nice to catch up with the son's from the heros in book one and two.Yes, there is lovemaking, somewhat descriptive but not as passionate as in her other books. We do get a HEA, but since I wasn't drawn to the character's, it was ok. I couldn't get over Kevin never went home when he returned to England, he sends his mother a note, another reason I didn't care for him.As in KLV books, several die and I won't explain who, but some deserved it.There is suspense at times, some twists, some intrigue, but this wasn't a favorite of mine. I won't go into the premise because it has been told by other's. I don't think it is worth $3.99 though. Sometimes, this author does bundles, so hold out for that or a price drop.If i wasn't use to her novels, how great she usually writes, I may have rated it higher. She is a great story teller and I highly recommend the two books prior to this one. I think the Dark Destroyer is still my favorite.
