Review: Best. Cloud. Solution. Ever. - If you like having control of your own files rather than using a cloud service this thing is great. I got the transporter early and initially the software sucked and always messed up. I lost files fairly often because there were five or so computers syncing with it. With the 2.0 update the transporter is great. The software is easy enough that I could walk my mother, who is computer illiterate, though the process of installing and setting up the drive on her computer. I prefer the way it works on Mac rather than PC, but I'm not a PC person so I suppose that makes sense. My only issue with the transporter was the lights because they would illuminate my bedroom at night from the desk so I moved it into the cabinet but because the top of the drive housing is unnecessarily tall, it didn't fit so I had to move the shelf down to accommodate. This is a pretty minor issue barely worth mentioning. Overall this product is great and I highly recommend it.

OK one of the things I was unsure of, do I need two transporters for this to work? No, you don't, one transporter is all you need. If you have two they can be setup to automatically sync to each other, or be used for additional storage. I don't like the file management in version 1, hopefully version 2 will fix this. I have a NAS (WD DX4000) which has its own quirks for setting up shared folders, it would really be nice if I could setup multiple cache locations for the transporter and point them to the existing folders. As it stands right now I use a separate app to sync the NAS to the transporter. Other than those minor issues it is a "Fantastic Product"! Update: I have two of these units now; one at home and one at the office: Version 2 BETA rolled out with promises of being more like dropbox, I had several issues adopting the new version, the major early issue was it was deleting GB's of data with no warning. I took my primary data out of the mix and have been waiting for the final release of Version 2 before I test the system again.

**Q: Can you use this Device also with 220V?**
A: I can not figure out how to get it to work at just 110V.  It has an external transformer so it should be able to work at 220V, but the software sucks and does not work.  Waste of money for a great idea

**Q: Can the transporter works with SSD disks?**
A: From their official FAQ:Can I use solid state disks (SSDs) or hybrid hard drives (HHDs)?Since the Transporter is a network-based storage solution, network throughput is the limiting factor in file transfer performance. Adding an SSD or HHD would not provide any real benefit. At the time of product launch, the Transporter device will not offer the instruction sets required to work with SSDs or HHDs.

**Q: Does the Transporter save a local version of the file on your computer with the app like dropbox does?**
A: I have two 2tb transporters one here and one at a remote locations. All computers in both locations have local files that have disk large enough to store the files used by that computer. This is useful for fast access to the files most often used at the local computer. Files saved to one transporter over 1000 moiles away appears on the local transporter local drive within a minute or two. Not only do I have remote backup but also data at both sites is up to date almost immediately. Love the device. Have not needed to have other people access data but think it easily allows secore access.

**Q: I'm a newbie , will this work for high resolution music files ?**
A: It is a storage device. It will store any type of file. It will not stream music but it will download it to the player.

I initially heard about the Transporter from a friend who bought one on Kickstarter. I was really intrigued by the idea of what the Transporter could do. I bought one and can honestly tell you that the instructions were easy to follow, and after a few minutes, I had my own personal, private cloud. Now, I'm able to share files, photos and documents with family and friends, because accessing and sharing the folders and files from anywhere WITHOUT monthly cloud fees does, in a word: ROCK!
