They make a nice "rocks" glass for alcoholic beverages, but that's just the beginning. They're heavy, of fine quality (made in France, not China), and very versatile. They're called "working glasses" because of the well-fitting lids which turn them from a drinking glass into a nice storage container for the fridge. I make a big pot of homemade soup and spoon it into these glasses, cover them, and refrigerate till ready to use. Perfect one serving size. Great storage They feel good in your hand, and their style is classic. For the price, you can't go wrong. I've used them for many years, and was happy to be able to find replacements on desertcart. (They're sturdy, but GLASS. Accidents happen!) I have used these glasses several times since I purchased them and found them to be very useful. The glass feels a bit on the light side (in weight) but they are indeed marked "500" which leads me to believe they will hold up as the older ones did. The lids seem very sturdy and they provide a tight fit and seemed to "snap" on. Of course it is also great that I can use easily drinking glasses as well. They are attractive enough that I was at them on my table without hesitation.
