The material loosened up fairly quick in that they lost their stiffness as you want from a pair of work shoes, meaning I didn't get blisters from them, not even when I first got them.It's worth saying I did go through the first pair in about 3 months and had to buy another pair, but I did choose these again. They also wore through as they were being worn for 50 hours a week while I was on my feet the whole time, something most shoes aren't built for, so it's to be expected they wore through and I don't see that as a flaw in their design.Splash-proof for sure (not sure if waterproof). The sole is soft and stayed that way for longer than I expected.I do recommend these shoes. Obviously if you're working long hours on your feet as a rule rather than an exception, these shoes might not last too long, which is why I marked 4 out of 5 stars. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than I expected *by R***O on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 October 2018* I usually take a UK size 5 - 5 1/2 (I have one foot a size 5 and one 5 1/5!) & I ordered a size 6 . I wanted a shoe with plenty of space in the toe and comfortable to walk in as I broke my middle toe (on my smaller foot) a few months ago & although its healed its still tender. I haven't worn proper shoes since until now, but needed a pair or outdoor shoes quickly, so ordered these. I have walked on them all day indoors first & then took a walk to the shop & back, & they are lovely. My toe has not hurt once. I wear them with thick socks. As other reviews have said the elastic under the strap seems slightly tight my larger foot I had to manouver the shoe on a bit, but my smaller foot was relatively easy to put on. But one both shoes were on they felt very comfortable indeed.
