My first bolt I torque with this, I was expecting a "THUNK" like the ft-lb cousin, but considering the torque we're working with is extremely low, the less than audible "THUNK" should be expected. When using this one, go slow, and rely more on the feel than the sound, as you'll get a "THUNK" you can feel in your hands when you get to the required spec. **Q: Sorry for the newbie question. Example: is an 80ft/lbs torque the same on a 1/4”, 3/8” or 1/2” torque wrench?** A: Well, first of all, a typical 1/4" torque wrench can't handle anywhere near 80 ft-lbs of force. Most can't even handle 20 ft-lbs and in any case use in-lbs, not ft-lbs. Similarly, many 1/2" and larger wrenches can't handle values below 20 ft-lbs. But, assuming that a torque wrench can handle a given torque value, then it's the same across different torque wrench sizes. I.e. 15 ft-lbs is the same on a 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", etc., wrench. This is aside from accuracy issues, which are more pronounced approaching the lower and upper limits of a torque wrench's range. I already have a Lexivon 10-80 Ft lb torque wrench that I like so I gave this 20-200 in-lb one a try. I used an Xlit digital torque adapter to check the calibration of the Lexivon and it fell within the stated tolerance levels. I like the included case, I also like the colors, especially the yellow painted numbers. I have some Craftsman torque wrenches and the engraved shiny numbers can sometimes be hard to read. The click is very soft, but you can fell the handle "break" over when the set value is achieved. For the price, this is a nice tool.
