I have actually been using Loreal's Platinum blond kits with their two packs of bleaching powder included and only half my hair gets lighter and it's a patchy, dry mess. Beforehand, I did put shea butter hair spray in my hair for a couple days to let my natural oils soak into my hair as well. THIS stuff came in a HUGE bottle-like twice the size they normally give you in any other hair color kits. The bleaching powder was purple and much finer and easier to disperse/mix into the developer (meaning it didn't get stuck in the spout no matter how long you sat there shaking the mixture together ;P) And the developer/powder mixture was much more creamy than any other kit, allowing you to actually surround every strand in it and comb it in for good measure instead of getting stuck and turning your hair into a massive tangle of knots. My roots were medium brown while my hair was darkish red, so I did the darkest patches of hair first, then the lighter patches, and finally my mousy roots for the last 25-30 mins of the 45 min session. I have those whispy greys that have been showing up since I was eleven and they're gone. I waited 5 days before putting the copper red color I've been wanting over it. It's still not perfect but it is the first time in ages it's looked anything close to even color all over and I love it. It's so bright and cheerful and not a breakage mess.
