With the plastic you are counting on an air gap to stop any residual heat or cold air. Aluminum foil works well for me in the basement windows, shiny side out; then I hand staple broke down boxes then a blanket. **Q: What size?** A: 3 windows~ Instead of putting tension rod through the curtain placket and trimming length~ I draped the curtians over the rod.
