It feels very soft and you can wash the cover too. Only down side is that it is extremely difficult to put it in the bag that it came with. I could be doing it wrong, who knows. At first it seemed a bit bulky but it's because I had horrible pillows until this one. Once I got the hang of packing it, I was completely in love with it! My partner used it on a couple of our road trips and we just purchased a second one so we wouldn't fight over it anymore! It was too stiff and I couldn't get comfortable. Pushed my neck forward too much. I like that it comes with a little carrying bag but it's really hard to shove back in there. It's also pretty heavy.
