    Good Value. Lousy Instructions.

I've had the post for about a month and, truthfully, it hasn't seen - nor will it likely see - any really hardcore downhill action. (Mine's an XC bike.) Mostly I ride the street. Not because I don't like trail riding. I prefer it. But because the trails aren't close to my home and I haven't a car to get to them. Even on the street though it's great to have. If stopped at a long light with no curb to put my foot on I can drop the seat and plant both feet on the road. Also it comes in handy when carrying the bike up and down the three flights of stairs at my apartment building. Lowering the seat allows me to grip the bike in a more comfortable way.The post seems to be very well built and if it lasts a full year of riding I'll consider it to have been of good value. The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars is because 1) it came with two or three extra parts that the VERY brief instructions didn't even mention. 2) the "manual," didn't even have a parts list. If it had I'd probably have been able to figure, going by the name of the parts, whether I needed them or not. Turns out I didn't.The installation would have gone quicker that way. 3) it came with only one zip tie. I needed four to secure it in three places along the top tube and one below the seatpost collar. Not a big negative but geez, considering they provided parts I didn't need - for this particular seatpost - would it kill them to toss in say five zip ties?By the way, for this model of their seatpost, all you need just four of the supplied parts. The seatpost, cable housing and wire, and activation (remote) switch - but you probably knew that already lol - and the tiny collar that goes at the end of the wire. Without it, pulling on the cable would not pull on the lever at the top of the seatpost. Oh and the zip tie. The other parts, which must have cost more than five zip ties would have, aren't needed at all.

    Does the job

*by I***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2020*

I am a noob mountain biker, so this is my first dropper. I loved installing the thing because it was practically effortless (except for correcting the mistakes I made.) It is pretty intuitive with acceptable instructions. I have one installation tip as well: when you pull the cable through the lever/remote, pull it until it is just barely pulling the valve lever on the post. It is really easy to get insufficient tension and fail to activate the post! I have used this thing for a few months with no issue. As my first post, I cannot give any decent comparison, but it has given me no trouble. The only thing that holds back a 5-star review is that the cable on the saddle end and remote end is pretty exposed. I am confident that some industrious dirt, grime, water, or other rust-inducing substances could get in there and destroy it. The cable mechanism is easy to operate and install, but I would like to see a little more protection from enemy particles.

Get a hydraulic if you can swing it

*by T***A on Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2016*

This is a good dropper for the money. It's worthwhile to test out the dropper craze without sinking a huge investment on a nicer one. If you can afford a hydraulic dropper, you will be much happier. The cable can be super finicky and difficult to get right. This product would greatly benefit from an inline barrel adjuster. Too tight and the post will slip down while you are riding. Too loose and it won't drop when you want. The cable housing stays the same length even though the length of the seatpost gets smaller which means it has to go somewhere. That somewhere is often to the side and hits your thigh. It's not too bad because you usually aren't pedaling when it's down. However, the housing sometimes pops out of the ferrule where it attaches under the saddle when it's in the down position making it really hard to get the seatpost all the way back up. The "out of socket" effect puts tension on the cable and the post will drop back down when waited until you fix it. These simply aren't issues with a hydraulic system. The remote trigger is cheapo plastic and the manual told me to tighten it down to a certain torque which immediately cracked it. KS customer support was great and sent me a couple new ones no charge and said the manual was wrong and it should only be tightened to about half the specified torque.
