I told him it needed to be killer hot and have an auto shut off because I am notorious for forgetting to turn it off and freaking out after we are an hour down the road. It has various heat settings, and yes it gets so hot it actually was too hot for my hair so I did some research to figure out what temperature I should actually be setting it at for my hair type. I do use TRESemme heat protectant with this product which I also get from desertcart which is also amazing. The barrel is very smooth and soft and the clip is very tight so I could not be happier. It does have the longest cord in the history of woman kind, but I guess that is handy if your mirror is a long ways from the outlet! It literally goes from the back of the vanity all the way down to the floor around a drawer and then back up. Oh well, a small price to pay.
