Sure, at least it's got the facts right, and the author is obviously both informed and enthusiastic, but where's the beef? It's the same old tourist destinations written with the same old tepid recommendations. In two cities where historic architecture is a major, MAJOR draw, a book like this should feature at least 20 sites from each, minimum. Listings of hotels should be as comprehensive as possible. I've yet to find a Charleston travel guide that mentions the best small boutique hotel in the city, Zero George, anywhere within its pages. A listing of Charleston restaurants that fails to mention Slightly North of Broad is, quite simply, incomplete.So I'll get off my soapbox. It would be great if you are staying for several days in any of the areas it talks about, but I'm a day-tripper, and I want to quickly know where to go and what to see. Technically there was some of that in this book, but very little and just not as touristy or helpful as I prefer.
