LOADS of pockets, it is indeed convertible to a strangely sitting but fairly comfortable backpack, and a great size for an overnight bag for us bigger guys, with pockets enough to store all your toiletries. Would also make a good traveling tool bag.Not my biggest duffel bag by any means, but still very big at 30" with a cavernous main compartment, and at least 10 significant-sized pockets. None great for holding a tablet; you'd likely have to put those in the main compartment; but a good size for most anything else.It does feel a bit on the flimsy side, but that's probably more from the weather-resistant coating on the inside than from any faulty fabrication. All in all it has the feel of a good, solid, masculine (yeah, I said it. it's masculine.) piece of luggage.And yes, it has both backpack-style straps that stow inside the bottom of the bag and an over-the-shoulder duffel style strap. Versatile, spacious, and pockets galore! Also several D-rings, so do yourself a favor and grab some carabiners or paracord to lash a pillow or raincoat on top!Update:Still going strong! I'm a pretty big guy, so "overnight" bags are rarely worth it. This, However, will comfortably hold a week's clothing and a laptop in the main compartment with the additional pockets handling toiletries and cables and even headphones and shoes easily.This has become my go-to bag for travel and has been tough, spacious, and durable. I got this as a Christmas gift from my amazing wife. I will be using it on our next camping trip. There are several pockets on the front and side for all of my gear and the inside picket is large enough to fit clothes for the two of us. My favorite feature is on the bottom of the duffel. There is a zippered pouch that holds two backpack straps. Opposite the straps are two more small zipper pouches that hide clips for the straps to attach to.
