They fit a five gallon bucket perfectly. They don't immediately start to dissolve; I kept one in a bucket for several hours before I disposed of it. They are thin. Obviously you have to be careful when you open them up and when you dispose of them. Being biodegradable, I didn't expect a heavy plastic bag that I could toss around. However, I kept a regular kitchen bag in the bucket first for insurance while testing them and I probably will as a rule. Not so with the Trail Essentials toilet bags—they traveled just fine inside the included travel case and allowed us to do the same thing that the bears do in the woods with less impact on the environment than the bears make. Not only that, but we discovered that we can also use them with the porta potty in our off-road teardrop camping trailer when boondocking off grid.
