It's a very capable piece of equipment as long as you're smart with it and don't overload it. Whether using it as a winch or a hoist it will do the job as long as you hook it up securely. It's a lot more flexible than a traditional winch since it can be used in a variety of different environments and super portable since it runs off a drill. Forewarning though, have a good drill like a 18v or 20v Lithium ion dewalt or equivalent. Don't expect it to work right with a $10 drill. This equipment stays in my truck tool box all the time, it's very handy and has bailed me out of being stuck in the mud too.
