I made one of Chef Melanie's recipes and even as a cheesecake hater, I enjoyed it a bit! It was full of chocolate, caramel, and sea salt so I mean, how can you not like it even a little? Well, the people that DO like cheesecake tasted it and were begging me to make more. My girlfriend nursed her personal size cheesecake for days because she didn't want it to be gone!Here's the reason this book is so great. It's super easy to follow even if you've never made a cheesecake before. Chef Melanie very thoughtfully describes each step in detail and gives you the courage you need to attack it head on. I thought for sure I was going to burn my homemade caramel but it came out beautifully. So well in fact I couldn't resist the temptation to grab an apple from the fridge and start dipping slices in it while I waited for the cheesecakes to bake.The pictures are beautiful and the recipe combinations are thoughtful and exciting and run the gamut from savory to sweet. This is a must for any cheesecake lover or any baker in your life that could use a dessert cookbook staple in their home. The nice thing about the book was although some of the recipes sound really fancy and impressive, they aren't intimidating or impossible, even for me. I chose the New York style cheesecake and it looked awesome, and was delicious! Seriously impressed my friend. The book has so many recipes that I never would have imagined possible - if you like to get creative this is a great one for you. The savory cheesecakes look amazing, goat cheese and rose, lemon cheesecake bars... seriously i think i need a copy for myself.
