Review: Great paint to use on gel plates - I have been using and teaching gelli plate skills for years and generally use Golden paints because they are in general the best paints there are and I generally use the fluid acrylics. However, now that I have discovered Amsterdam paints I will be using them except when I am making very large mono prints. These Amsterdam paints are the perfect consistency for gel plating. They cover well and the selection of colors in this set is wonderful. Unfortunately the tubes are small and you will have to replace your favorite colors soon. But that is why I purchased this set; to sample many of the colors. In the future I will purchase larger individual tubes of some of my favorites. I feel this set is a wonderful investment for all who make mono prints on Gel Plates.

A: This set contains a mix of all four levels - opaque, semi-opaque, semi-transparent, and transparent. The three transparent colors include 369 Primary Magenta, 567 Perm. Red Violet, 504 Ultramarine.

I have been using and teaching gelli plate skills for years and generally use Golden paints because they are in general the best paints there are and I generally use the fluid acrylics. Royal Amsterdam is more of a student level acrylic, it doesn't have the opacity or the rich pigment of Liquitex or Golden but the price point reflects that. This is a good assortment of colors, so I work them into a painting here and there but don't really cover a lot of area with these.
