stairway: Book II of the Earth Chronicles (Earth Chronicles, 2)

This gets a little thick, but stick with it. Too many similarities to be coincidences. It does question modern archeology in compelling ways.

Like many curious people reaching their senior years I have contemplated the ancient search for the fountain of youth and the secrets of immortality. Indeed, many elderly people miss their beautiful, carefree and energetic youth. I suppose this may be one of the reasons this book, (The Stairway to Heaven: Man’s remarkable quest for the immortality of the Gods by Zecharia Sitchin), which is book 11 of the Earth Chronicles, attracted my attention and decided to purchase on Amazon for a bargain price.The 14 areas covered in this book take us on a historic journey through the ages in humankind’s search for renewed youth and longevity. The topics explored includes the following: in search for paradise, the immortal ancestors, the pharaoh’s journey to the afterlife, the stairway to heaven, the Gods who came to planet Earth, in the days before deluge, Gilgamesh: the King who refused to die, riders of the clouds, the landing place, the Mun: land of the rocket ships, the elusive mount, the pyramids of Gods and Kings, forging the Pharaoh’s name and the gaze of the Sphinx.I found this book to be interesting and a very entertaining read as the author weaves ancient myths, stories and parables in the search for youth and immortality. If you like well written books about ancient historical searchers for the man’s and women’s place in the universe you may want to check out this book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Stairway to Heaven (S2H) is a continuation of the 12th Planet series of books. It is recommended that you read the 12th Planet by Zecharia Sitchin before starting this book. That book startswith Sumer and its writings and legacy. All of the mythology that we have down to modern time seems to be a repeatof the Sumerian stories (with the names changed).In S2H, Sitchin continues with the ancient visitation theory - the purpose to mine and export gold, silver, copperetc back to the 12th planet. The S2H is the explanation of the transportation and communications systems thathelped move the raw materials to the various spaceports (before and after the Deluge - lets call that 10,000BC - around the end of the last ice age).How do the Giza pyramids, Jerusalem, Mt Ararat, the Sinai peninsula and Ba-albek together? The authorshows one interpretation.Sitchin's work traces through the older version of the Bible, Sumerian, Akkadian, and Egyptian stories topiece together an interesting story of his version of history. He also goes through how our history ofwitnessing the gods of old (human visitors with space ships) shaped our view of life, the afterlifeand immortality.

It's amazing to read about things we do not understand and try to comprehend it all. I just know that the Bible is good and that all that live by it will live a harmonious life with others like minded. That way we look after one n another and treat them the way we would like to be treated. We want anything in this world we have to work for it not sit down and wait for it to be delivered, all these teachings are in the bible. Thank you zacharia sitchin for your enlightenment n your understanding of the world. May you rest in peace.

A word for word translation of the material found within the Egyptian pyramids. interesting as it may be, we do need to realize that most of it is pertaining to a lie. Ra (Marduk) claimed to be the only god of man and he promised eternal life to his half human mortal offspring. He created a religion and gave them false hope of eternal life if they followed his orders. How do we know that it was a lie. Well the bodies never went anywhere and the riches meant to pay (bribe) for the human mortals passage to heaven was also all still there. The only people who were paid were the tomb thieves. There is no evidence to show that Ra (nor any other entity) have control of the human souls after death either.

Sitchin has a unique perspective on the pyramids and i truly enjoyed his analysis of the Gilgamesh epic. However, I don't feel resonance with several of his points/conclusions. The other item is that a significant portion of the book includes the same material from The 12th Planet, of which could have been referenced and summarized. Historically, this opens up territory on the search for eternal life and shows how long humans have been trying to attain that quality.- Erik

I'm by nature a lover of history and good fiction. This series so far delivers on both and much more.If you have an open mind on topics such as biblical interpretation you will enjoy this book. A thinker.

I did like this book, however the first one i liked better..i started getting bored reading this one.. maybe the next i wont have as much trouble reading lol

Zecharia Sitchin was a very special dedicated researcher and amazing man. His worth has certainly transpired in to my life from our understanding the value of knowledge, conscious awareness and truth. His work will live on for a long time in the hearts of people wishing to know the 'true history' of what has unfolded on our planet.

This book has opened up a whole new dimension in Earth's history and the evolution of 'Man'. It is detailed, it's content is corroborated and its idea very believable. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
