Take two refills and open them and slip the band around both of them so they're connected as a single unit, then slip the left one under the band inside the Traveler's notebook. The band linking the two refills will be what holds them in the Traveler's note book. I would buy again and give it as gifts! No frills, just a nice, simple leather cover for my planner and sketchbook. Good thickness and texture, which is important because I take it everywhere with me, so It will end up taking a lot of abuse. My only discrepancy is that it has a "squiggle" drawn on the inside cover. I'm not sure if this was some kind of quality assurance inspection approval mark but it's pretty big and ugly.
