## Description

The kingdom of Romulea is in peril. Monsters are leaking out of every nook and cranny in the land and have started an uprising against humanity. Players take on the role of Fried, an adventurer from the Royal Library sent to stop the uprising. Early in his journey, Fried discovers a broken shrine. This sets in motion the story where Fried travels around the kingdom, and through rescuing, defeating, or bumping into any of the 16 unique girls that can join his party, he is on a mission to save the world. Set in a first-person perspective with turn-based combat, players will encounter normal monsters as well as more powerful mutant girls, who must be sealed away to prevent the spread of the evil monster scourge.

Review: Excellent Dungeon Crawler - This game has visual content that you might find questionable, and that's a judgment you'll have to make for yourself. But as a dungeon crawler, this game is one of the best I've played, period. I've been nearly driving myself to exhaustion because I've been having trouble putting it down. Class changes? You got it -- five base classes, 11 intermediate classes, and 16 advanced classes. Wizardry, eat your heart out! Furthermore, these advanced classes retain the active and passive skills of previous classes, as well as some variation in which intermediate class to branch from, so making the best use of your skill points early on makes class changing more than a simple progression gimmick. Like most other dungeon crawlers, you'll probably spend hours trying to come up with a unique team that best fits your own play style. Should you make a Samurai with a Paladin base, giving her the abiliy to be an evasion "tank" for the team? Or perhaps you could go Berserker -> Samurai, opting to go all-out for offense. Maybe you want to try bucking trends and take on the challenge of gearing a Valkyrie tank into a front-line healer. Or why not just forgo healers entirely and rely on a squad of maids to buff, debuff, and cook meals for the party? Choices, choices... Dungeons are a more straight-forward affair, although still rife with hidden passages, traps, pitfalls, teleports, one-way walls... and on top of all that, monsters behind every corner. Part of what really puts this game above other crawlers are dungeon sub-events that help keep things lively. Sixteen advanced classes means there are sixteen playable characters, not including DLC. Each character has their own well-voiced personality, and depending on your actions, characters will banter with each other inside dungeons. There's even an enigmatic comedy duo that roams dungeons, consisting of a talking bear and penguin. Will Peggy ever share her secrets as to how she solos these dungeons all by herself, while Beard stands by the wayside? And yes, the dungeons and bosses can be very challenging, depending on how suited your party is. The best thing about this challenge though, is that there's always a way to change up your tactics or party composition to tackle a challenge. And if you don't want to change, well, there's always good old-fashioned level grinding. There's even a generous helping of optional dungeons and post-game content, which might be as long, or possibly longer than the main story content itself. The post-game content even has class-specific checkpoints and challenges, which helps to ensure you'll get to experience the full spread of classes, character combinations, and dungeon sub-event banter. This game's probably received a fair bit of press for its lewd content -- and again, you'll have to decide for yourself if you're okay with that -- but the game itself is one of the best I've played... and I've been playing dungeon crawlers of all types since Wizardry and Might and Magic. The PS Vita has a healthy selection of dungeon crawlers now, but this is arguably the best.
Review: A couple of flaws, but... - I had hoped that eventually someone would take a chance and localize the original To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers, in which the cast of the well-known visual novel To Heart 2 found themselves thrust in a dungeon crawling RPG. That unfortunately never happened, so I was surprised when Atlus announced they'd be localizing its sequel, this game. In the game, the protagonist Fried is a Libra in training. Libras are magic users who specialize in sealing away dangerous monsters. Unfortunately they generally don't have much in the way of combat skills, and so to do their job they need to be supported by a party of other characters. Since Alisia and Melvy, a couple of Fried's friends from the academy happen to be hanging around when the countryside around the royal library is hit with an outbreak of monsters, we have a reason to go dungeon-crawling. The gameplay is quite similar to games such as Etrian Odyssey - Nintendo DS and Class of Heroes - Sony PSP . The royal library serves as a home base where the characters can recuperate when not exploring. In an interesting little twist, the characters can rest for free at the library, so there are no worries about spending all the proceeds of a dungeon exploration on healing at an inn. As the game progresses, Fried will meet plenty of new allies; each of his new allies has a basic class (fighter, magic user, maid, etc.), but as the characters level up, they can branch out into more advanced versions of that basic class. And of course, the game's hook is that most of the monsters encountered in the dungeons are standard RPG beasts (ghosts, werewolves, etc.) anthropomorphized as moe anime-style characters. The bosses (or "mutants") are styled in the same way, and generally after beating the boss the player is treated to a visual-novel type scene where the boss' clothes have been shredded or the boss is depicted in a highly suggestive manner. Considering this game's visual novel origins, this shouldn't be too surprising, but be advised there will be some pretty suggestive stuff lurking. I'm not sure the "M" rating is warranted, but neither is that rating totally out of line. That said, you might expect a light and fluffy game where outside of the cutscenes and moe characters, there's not much underneath. However, there's a pretty deep and challenging RPG modulo all of the fan-pandering. While the first dungeon is not much of a challenge, after that point there is a difficulty spike and the game is not afraid to punish the player if they wander into a encounter unprepared. The player will no doubt find themselves scrambling out of the dungeon with a decimated party from time to time, and being underleveled during a boss fight can easily culminate in a game over. Fortunately, a little bit of grinding for an extra level or two will usually equalize the playing field. So overall, this game ended up being exactly what I was looking for-a solid RPG with some nice anime style eye candy. The character and monster designs are very attractive, there's a solid and challenging game, and each character class has a pretty wide range of skills which can be leveled up as the player desires. That said, there are a few definite flaws in the game as well. The highly-suggestive nature of some of the cutscenes and some of the monster designs may put off some players, most of the characters are pretty stock archetypes (Fried could have stepped out of the lead role of a harem anime, and Alisia is a standard "old friend" of the protagonist for example), and the mapping system leaves a bit to be desired. Some of the dungeon maps are quite large, and there are two map views available. Unfortunately, the large area of some of the dungeons means that when the map is zoomed-out, the player could find themselves squinting and straining to see how to navigate from point A to B while the zoomed-in map doesn't give an adequate overall view of the layout. Additionally, the map marks the location of treasures, but it would have been nice to be able to mark certain points on the map to visit later (to make a note of a boss location for example). Overall, however, if you like dungeon crawlers and cute anime girls, this is probably a Vita title you should consider acquiring.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Questionable Localization issues Don't ruin a fantastic DRPG experience.
*by K***R on August 18, 2015*

Dungeon Travelers 2 is a Dungeon crawling RPG from Japanese game developer STING. Often known for their great games like Tears to Tiara 2, Yggdra Union, Evolution, and others, the developer has quite a solid reputation in Japan for delivering great games with excellent gameplay. This game is no exception. The Dungeon crawling in Dungeon Travelers 2 is some of the best you'll ever see on the vita let alone any other console, and the complex class system and customization will leave you tinkering and trying to find and create your preferred team for days. Another bright spot in the game is the dungeons themselves. Some dungeon crawlers tend to keep there maps quite simple which often leads to exploration being a drag (cough Mind Zero cough) which in turn makes the game become repetitive. Dungeon Crawlers 2 fortunately has some elaborate, well created mazes that make exploring maps fun rather than a mundane task. Enemies of course are anime style monster girls, with an abundant amount of them having amazing designs. The story is not anything too crazy or complex, but the characters and dialogue shared between both the MC (who at times can be a complete tool) and characters is great and interesting enough to want to see which direction the game and its story goes. The most controversial (and the one that may turn others away from it, understandably so) aspect of this title is the localization decision by Atlus USA to censor 4 cgs in the game. While these CGs were only slightly modified to be "suitable for a M release" the fact that there is censorship in the title is still something that is not acceptable. Admittedly, the censorship isn't anything too bad, and the CGs themselves were left in the game thankfully (take notes NISAmerica). As someone who hates censorship of any kind I still find it very unfortunate that such an excellent title will immediately be tossed aside by many because of the censorship since the game is so great.. While I completely understand anyone who doesn't support censorship, this game is too good to pass up, even if buying it may deliver the wrong message that censorship is acceptable. I believe AtlusUSA has taken note of the response from the community of people who actually bought this game (if that means anything) and will hopefully see the message that censorship ruins a product . Again whether you pick up the title is up 2 you, but if you choose not to because of the censorship, its completely understandable. I myself was far too addicted after the demo to not play the game. Regardless, if you can get past the fact that it has 4 small CGs censored, and decide to pick up this game, I can assure you that you will not regret it. DT2 is not only the best dungeon crawler on the vita, it may be one of the best titles released on it period. In a time where Vita releases seem to be dying down in the west, hidden gems like Dungeon Travelers 2 are a blessing to vita owners across the west.
