Takes a while to get used to but they are much more convenient to use than the conventional style allowing you to get a secure grip in two motions. Some say the strap isn't long enough while in my personal experience I find it is more than enough, sometimes even requiring adjustment in wrist placement since the dowel can become uncomfortable on your palm when overwrapped on a bar. I suppose those who come from a conventional strap background may find them difficult to become accustomed to.
