Very Good (changed from pretty good)

*by T***. on Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2015*

I purchased and used SoundBot SB302 before these - and these have a better low-end response and better sound isolation. Only after I found the proper ear tips. One thing I discovered about these types of buds, although they work GREAT in remaining in place, in the ear because of the loop that goes behind the ear. However (and this might be a deal breaker for some) it's a bit of a hassle getting them untangled BECAUSE of the wire ear loops. Plus the wire is not very flexible. (see photos) But hey - for less than 20 bucks I guess I shouldn't all expects these buds to be a 10. Fit is a 10, very comfortable especially with all the ear tips to choose from. Retention-10, very secure. They don't work their way loose and let sound in and they don't pop out if there's a tug on the cord. Wire Flexibility-4. The kinks, bends and loops don't straighten out much. They have sort of a spring recoil action. (see photos) In fact the ear loops which help keep the buds in the buds in place, add to the tangle factor. I have a pair of Ultimate Ears (Logitech) and Klipsch S4, wire of both straighten nicely, their pretty flexible - BUT they don't stay in my ear as well as these. Sound quality-8 My hearing isn't as good as it used to be, BUT they do sound pretty good. Their ability to isolate sound helps in the quality (more on this later). If I'm playing music from Pandora or from my phones memory it's all pretty good. The SoundBots had very brassy, tinny highs - they almost hurt my ears, while I tried to boost the volume to hear the low end. On the SoundBots the lows did come through, but the brassy highs were annoying. These Sport-Fi M6P sound good through all sound spectrums. Sound Isolation-9. After finding the correct ear gels, these work great in isolating sound. Some people will say "these isolate outside noise, if I turn my music up". Hey dudes - your gonna go deaf! The idea is to keep your music volume DOWN, while keeping outside noise out. These isolate sound better than my Kipsch, Ultimate Ears, and the SoundBots. I usually wear hearing protection while mowing the lawn and these work just as well. Controls-9. There's a button to pause/play music and answer calls. These controls are combined with the microphone. I only wished the mic was up farther up the cord near my cheek. In this category the SoundBots work better. My callers could hear me just fine with the Bots. I haven't made a call yet with these. I'll update this review after a few calls.I was waffling between 3 and 4 stars, but because of the need to use two hands to untangle the wires and place the buds over/behind my ears they're not as user friendly as some of the other buds. My Kipsch buds don't have a microphone, so I don't use them except to listen to music. Their easy to insert and remove and they remain in place good. The Ultimate Ears has a mic, insert remove with one hand, but they don't remain in my ear very well. These M6P's remain stable and secure, sound great, fit great - the wires easily tangle. I wonder if their more expensive buds are more flexible. If they are - they might be worth the extra money. If you plan on keeping these buds on for hours at a time, these work great. If you insert then remove, then insert these buds numerous times a day, these will be a hassle. Or if you have strenuous work outs, where other buds come loose - these will also work great.Update-later the same day. After wearing these at work I've learned (for the most part) to put on and take these ear buds off with one hand. The sound quality is continuing to impress me. Great bass response and smooth highs. Hearing sounds and nuances of music and instruments I have not heard before. I listen primarily to Pandora's Smooth Jazz. I hear the snapping of fingers on some songs I haven't heard before. The vibration and rattle of some bass strings. Nice. If I didn't have to communicate with people I work with, I would leave these in all day. A song that really makes the buds stand out is "Rapture At Sea", by Eastern Sun. Check it out. Cool.

I have to say I'm not very satisfied. Nothing defective about them

*by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2014*

After having these for a couple of weeks, I have to say I'm not very satisfied. Nothing defective about them. Material and workmanship are fine. My disappointment is in the performance, sound quality, and fit.FYI - I tested these primary with my Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. But, I also tried them on my Nexus 7 tablet, my iPod Nano (6th Gen) and with my laptop (It uses a combo mic/headphone jack like the phones).*Performance - The button is flaky and untrustworthy. What should be a single click to answer a call sometimes registers as a double click and rejects the call. A double click to skip music forward sometimes registers as a single click and closes the music app, causing me to stop and take my phone out, unlock it and restart the player. A triple click to go back in the music player rarely ever registers as a triple. Usually, it registers as a double and skips back, but sometimes it registers as a single and stops the music player.I loved the idea of a volume slider. It gives more granular control than the jumps in volume the OEM buttons do. However, this slider, if it's below the first 1/3rd, you hear nothing. Above the top 1/3rd and it jumps to max volume. You have just that tiny little window in the middle 3rd to adjust with. (NOTE: This performance was the same, regardless of device volume level or what device I tried it in.)*Sound Quality: The highs were tinny and the lows buzzed. And, I'm not talking about on stuff like "Baby Got Back." I mean, the low's on even "In the Ghetto" by Elvis buzzed. I mean, ELVIS bottomed out the frequency range!*Fit: I had a couple of issues here. Mainly, they HURT my ears. I tried several of the included rubber ear buds, and even the smallest hurt. It mainly hurt deeper in my ears. The design of these (And I understand it's to help hold them in when running) are that the plastic "Tube" part extends deeper into your ear canal. Maybe I have shallow ear canals. They felt like they were bumping my ear drums and, if I used them more than an hour at a time, made me feel like I do when I have a sore throat.Second was the memory wire. It wouldn't remember the shape of my ears. Each time I put them on, I had to fiddle with them for several minutes to get the wires back into shape. Taking them off straitened the wires back out, losing the shape. Maybe I jsut have big earlobes and had to flex them further than most to take them off??The Shirt clip on the wire would not stay clipped to my shirt. And, no, I wasn't running. I can't run due to physical injuries. I walk with a cane. I walk my dog a couple of miles a day. So, there is no reason a clip shouldn't stay attached properly. The case is a nice touch, if you have 5 min each time to try to coil them up, fight with the memory wire, and the huge volume/mic part. Honestly, I gave up trying to put them back in the case until I decided I wasn't going to use them any more. Are they terrible? No But, I'm glad I got them so cheap. If I had paid the original retail price, I would have been really disappointed.I'm going to give them to my fiances son. He's a runner. Maybe they will work better for him.

I'm impressed with these, even though the sound isn't the best.

I bought the M6P as I wanted some sweat-proof in-ear headphones with an in-line volume control and button to use whilst running. I use a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact running Android 4.4.4 and Spotify for the music.I really like that the volume control is analogue and independent - you set your phone/MP3 player to maximum volume, and use the slider on the cable to adjust volume. This means that it will work across Android and iOS - Play/Pause/Call pick-up buttons work on both, but volume controllers are platform dependent. On my phone, the button acts as play/pause in Spotify, and will even skip tracks when double-clicked. Along with the volume, that's all I need when running. The button and slider are very well defined too - easy to grab and adjust without looking.Build quality is excellent. There is good strain releif on both ends of the cable, and the cable itself is light and flexible. It seems to be a translucent plastic with a braided core. The buds themselves are very well built, and the stems which the silicone tips grip are reassuringly solid. The buds still feel nice and light though - its clear that they've used very high quality plastics for the casing.Fit and comfort are excellent too, although I realise everyone is different. I'm 6'5" with large-ish ears, and these stay put just fine. They come with small, medium and large silicone buds, medium double flanged buds, and small and large triple-flanged buds. These are all made of very soft silicone, so mould themselves to your ear shape without putting much pressure on your ear at all. A note on the "memory wire" though: It rests about halfway to where you bend it. That is to say, if you bend it into a U shape, it will bounce back and stay in an r shape. In order to get it to stay in an inverted U to hook over my ears, I had to bend it full circle and let go. Following the instructions and just moulding it around your ears probably won't work.Once you've got the fit right on the memory wire and the ear buds, these aren't going anywhere. I snagged the cable accidentally whilst adjusting my glasses during a run and they didn't budge. There is also no cable noise whatsoever, which is a big plus. The sound is where these fall down a bit. It's comparable to a *good* set of headphones that might some with a smartphone (think a high end Sony or Samsung device). I used to use some Sennheiser CX-300 IIs for running, and they sounded better, but they also cost twice as much. The sound is much cooler than the Senns, even with a good fit on the silicone buds (which is essential - bass just disappears completely if you can't get a good fit). These do have some bass, but I wouldn't go as far as to describe them as having "energetic sound and enhanced bass". The sound is pretty good for the money, though I think they might benefit from a software equaliser. Clarity isn't bad, and to be honest, they're perfectly fine for running outdoors.
