I hesitated because I wasn't a "cat person," but the experience with this kitten turned me into a cat person in record time, given that I had to wean him and give him medicines regularly. Riley lived to 17 and a half. The second was born in the dirt-floor basement of the mountain house to which I moved. She too was the only survivor, and I've had her for 15 years now; she still favors my basement. Soon after, I adopted Leah, who seems content to be my house cat now.
