I could not buy locally so I bought here. This product works as should. Some reviews talk about how its dull, will not cut, etc. This is ALL false information (for the most part). These people that comment like that do not know how to sharpen anything. This machete has a factory ground edge. We sharpen ours each day to the point they shave. Take about 10 minutes the first time and about 2 minutes each day after that to keep it that way. Its not a product flaw its a purchaser flaw in not knowing WHAT or HOW to do something. Mainly for themselves. Use a mill bastard file I like a 12" to sharpen it. I also prefer a handle on the file. So the product is great, performs well, and will cut your arm off if you would like for it too. Review: Just what I needed! - We live on a quarter acre of land right in the middle of town. Our back yard butts up against a 5 acre forest that is restricted from development. With that said, this means that parts of our back yard are invaded by a large variety of saplings, vines, volunteer corn, etc. There was nothing in my garage that could handle these "woody" invaders .... except a machete! This is just what the "gardener" ordered (so to speak)! It's the right tool for the right job! Light, very sharp, easy to handle. Now, if I can just talk my wife into giving it a try! She could take out her frustrations of being a secretary in a public high school on the invaders in our back yard! Kill two birds with one stone (so to speak). They come with a rudimentary bevel that you hone into the edge you want. For soft woods and bush, you develop and edge that is, say, 15 degrees. For hardwoods and thick saplings you develop and edge that has an angle of 25 degrees or even steeper. If the steel is of low quality, you have to go with a steep edge regardless of what you are cutting. The Corona is carbon steel and is of excellent quality. I use it in the tropics on mostly soft stuff so I have a very thin, tapered edge that is very very sharp. I've used a lot of machetes over the years and I swear by these. They are not pretty and, yes, the edge needs to be developed. That said, you have to keep any machete sharp. Start with a fine, mill-bastard file going with the edge. Make sure you maintain the angle you wish to develop. Lots of YouTube vids on how to sharpen. Once you have the angle you want, use a small, <$20 diamond sharpening stone (fine grit) to finish. You'll use the sharpening stone for lots of other stuff, too so it's not just for the machete. Good luck **Q: Why the proposition 65 warning? Handle? What do you shark what to use to sharpen? Thank you!** A: I don't know what a proposition 65 warning is..... If you are referring to the red handle, you find it comes in handy if you drop it in the jungle (or the lawn). A little toothy as far a random nice missing from the edge. Not cutting sharp.
