This mini lime tree is an ideal feature for a conservatory or well lit windowsill and can be moved outside to a warm patio in the summer. The citrus fruits can take approximately a year to develop, savour the taste of home grown limes high in vitamin C. Best used for juices, jams, chutneys – a great ingredient to have on hand for cooking and baking or the whole fruit can be frozen and used like an ice cube. Equally the attractive fruits provide a nice ornamental display. Plant in a container or pot using a mix of ericaceous compost and neutral, soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Repot the plant at its original soil level and firm well into the new container. Water well and position somewhere well lit and away from cold draughts and radiators (4-12°C) – in a conservatory is best. If frost free can be positioned outside from May to October. Water freely in summer and mist leaves daily to increase humidity and discourage pests. Feed with citrus plant fertiliser every 2 weeks. Move plants back indoors before frosts. Like what I put the orange and lemon plants into?** A: Yes citrus soil , not too close to radiator and winter and summer citrus feed **Q: Is there seed in the lime?** A: Will be a year or two before my tree is big enough to fruit but generally Limes do have seeds/pips. **Q: Dose the lime tree have thorns ( spikes ) ? As l have small grandchildren** A: Lemon trees have thorns. My lime just arrived also has thorns. The orange tree has small oranges on it, the lemon tree I’m just waiting on a huge lemon to ripen as the others sadly fell off in transit but the biggest one survived. They take a long time to ripen but well worth the wait. Excited to finally get to try the lemon from the lemon tree we got around 8-9 months ago.This ones just come looks very healthy, I’ll repot it and place it in my lounge I think. No fruit on it but that’s as expected. Lovely green leaves when most leaves are gone on other plants. I’m excited to see when it does fruit although I don’t expect that for a few years.
