## Description

Sylvania 14700 Capsylite 50-Watt PAR20 Halogen Wide Flood, 40-Degree beam angle. This is the familiar, classic halogen product that most homeowners and businesses use when they need high light output from small fixtures. The most common uses would be in track lighting and small recessed cans. Halogen PAR flood products provide bright, white light together with high color rendering. This versatile "high-end" light adds to the appeal of home furnishings, or calls attention to showroom merchandise. Halogen PAR floods are a more energy efficient substitute for traditional incandescent floods. The halogen PAR20 is designed to replace a small incandescent flood, also known as an R20. By design, the PAR20 will fit wherever the R20 fits, and the PAR20 also features the same great dimming properties. Halogen PAR20 floods have a "lamp within a lamp" construction. Inside the outer jacket that you see, there is a tungsten halogen capsule, which is the inner "lamp". This is why halogen products are more efficient than standard incandescent bulbs. And, halogen products do not contain mercury, commonly used in some other types of energy efficient products. Sylvania Capsylite halogen PAR floods also feature SPL optics. SPL is a patented optical system that provides consistent, uniform performance from bulb to bulb. SPL shapes the light to provide a more even distribution of high level light across a broad area. Review: Good light, lasts almost ten months of constant use when dimmed - I use two of these in a Broan Allure hood, which has two bulbs and two brightness levels. We never turn the lights off. They are usually on the low setting, and occasionally switched to high. They are rated at 2500 hours - presumably on full power. That's about 3.5 months, but I expected to get longer use because they are almost always dimmed. I started using these bulbs on May 25 of last year, and today is March 17 and the first one has gone out (the other is still going strong). That's nearly 10 months; exactly 296 days, or 7,104 hours of continual use on the dim and occasional bright setting. The light is warmer than I expected, which is nice. At night, when all the lights are out except these, the kitchen has a nice warm feel. The light spreads out very evenly and the light of the two bulbs blend into each other nicely - you don't really notice that the light is coming from two bulbs which are 20 inches apart. Our previous hood had a single light, and we were concerned that the two-lamp hood would produce two distinct hot spots, but this is not the case. One reviewer said the bulbs are 2.75 inches in diameter. Mine are exactly 2.5 inches and fit my Broan Allure hood with room to spare. UPDATE: Today is Nov 25, 2014. I have not replaced either the original long-lasting bulb, or the replacement for the one original bulb that failed. The lights in our dual-light Broan hood are still always on reduced setting, every hour of every day.
Review: Sylvania halogen bulb used in a range hood - These bulbs are erratic in their quality. One was perfect and easily screwed into my range hood and is working just fine. The other one, however, had irregular and pieces of material at the top of the part that connects with the screw in part. This causes the bulb not to fit snugly into the socket and sometimes it will just go out - no light. The Seller e-mailed me to inquire about my satisfaction with these bulbs and gave me a full refund for the one that works erratically, which I very much appreciated. So their customer service is excellent. And this problem is not the fault of the Seller - it's Sylvania's defect. I'm trying to find out if it would render the bulb completely useless if I file down some of these rough, irregular areas. I am very pleased with the one that works correctly. Sylvania is not up to par on it's quality control and this bulb should not have passed their inspection. If you get good ones, I would highly recommend these bulbs.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard To Find In Stores

I was happy to find these Sylvania PAR20 wide flood bulbs at Amazon. I use them in the Broan hood over my range, which has three brightness settings. The wide flood is the best bulb for that application since it allows the light to spread over the entire cook top. The bulbs give out a nice warm light and last a very long time. I've tried other PAR20 bulbs but none of them give out a nice wide beam of light or last as long as these. I would recommend these bulbs to anyone looking for a good quality PAR20 flood light bulb.
