I just bought a Dyson C33 which I really like, but I am wondering if I am missing out.** A: I've had both. Oreck is lighter and easy on the shoulders and getting upstairs. Oreck requires paper bags. I liked the dyson but I now am in the position of buying another motor head part for approx $120. This is the second time it has gone out in 5 years. I imagine it is due to the 3 pets and 2 long hair family members. Do I buy an Oreck or do I buy the replacement part? I am trying to decide. My old Oreck still works but it needs a $70 part. I don't use it often, I repaired it with tape. I also own an old little lite bissell, it is light weight and performs reasonably well. Keep it in a little studio/room I have for visitors to clean up with. I think the Oreck brush picks up more pet hair and stuff that sits on top of the carpet whereas the dyson really sucks the dirt from the carpet. It sucks some of my floor carpets right into it, which probably contributed to the motor head part, aka the plastic part that turns the beater brush to break. Dyson makes you buy the whole assembly when the problem both times has been these little plastic pieces that the motor turns, they fit into brush and make the brush turn. They break. Wish they were steel! Dream on. **Q: I am about to buy the XL2100RHS but do not want to use the thin, cheap commercial bags. Is there a HEPA bag that fits this product?** A: Where do you get bag dock for this? **Q: My daughters and i all have long hair that we have to cut out of the vacuum brush. How is this vacuum with hair?** A: Any vacuum with a rotating brush is going to get tangled with long hairs but this is actually a good thing. All upright vacuums have the fan that pulls the dirt in, in front of the bag so all the hair and stuff has to go past the spinning fan first. You can hear this whenever something hard is picked up and can be heard hitting the fan blades, not good. Any long hairs or string that gets past the rotating brush, is going to get tangled on the fan which you cannot get to, to cut them out. This will cause the fan to run hot and shorten the life of the machine. **Q: Which Oreck is best for residential use?** A: The only major difference between this and some of the lower end residential XL models of years past is the "Commercial" marking, the cord color, and the lack of a bag dock which can be retrofitted. I’ve had it for a few days now coming from a Dyson ball animal three and this thing has way better suction power because it is a commercial upright. It is a bit loud, but that is common for commercial vacuums because they’re designed for commercial settings. I do love the fact that it takes bags. I don’t have to sit here and wash filters just simply change a bag, but I do recommend if you are an allergy suffer to also order their hyper allergenic bags because it will come with just a standard paper bag. Also love the fact if I have to replace a belt or brush roll, I could just simply order a belt or brush roll. I don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars like Dyson to replace the entire motorhead. It’s very lightweight love the extra long cord. It comes with. It does get tangled up but once you get that untangled. You have a plug it in and forget it. Also, I do love how they kept the traditional design and did not steer away from the original. Oreck look so if you are looking for a reliable vacuum, that is lightweight and that will get your carpets clean I recommend this one and if you do have high traffic areas this vacuum will get it clean as well as ref fluff those areas it’s not gonna be 100% fluffed, but you’ll see some fluff in action. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ AWESOME VACUUM. *GREAT* for pet hair, don't listen to the people who say its not good for pet hair. *by on Reviewed in the United States August 13, 2016* So I bought this vacuum cleaner as a replacement for a Shark Professional Lift Away canister vaccum. The shark had some issues, namely:1. It had an attachment tube through which all the suction power at some point went. This tube was made of a material that kept cracking and we had to duct tape it. In the end it was more tape than tube and this led to a loss of suction.2. I was absolutely SICK of emptying the canister and digging out pet hair and inhaling the dust and cleaning the filter etc. It was nasty.My wife and I made a deal for the housework. She would do the downstairs and I the upstairs. Since the upstairs is 100% frize carpet, the vacuum quickly became a point of contention for me.I did my research (A LOT OF IT) and came to Oreck. I didn't feel like shelling out 500+ dollars for one of the super top of the line home versions that are aesthetically pleasing and instead opted to pocket the cash and buy this workhorse for 150 bucks. And I am IMPRESSED.We have 3 dogs and a cat. The dogs are a Siberian Husky, a German Shepard, and a St. Bernard. Needless to say we a have a LOT of pet hair. Some reviewers have mentioned that they didn't think the oreck was effective for this. These people are lying to you. Our carpets are now amazingly clean. This thing sucks up debris and pet hair like nothing I've ever seen. Its a BEAST. And its lightweight. The bags hold a LOT and when its time to change them out you just pull em, toss em and replace em.They are cheap. I've been through 2 in a month and got a 25 pack for like 15 bucks. Get the scent tabs. You can really smell them at first, after the first couple of days you cant smell anything, which hopefully is the point.Some people have mentioned a burning rubber smell when they started using the vaccuum. I noticed this too, but I think it is just a burn in phenomenon as it quickly went away.The replacement and maintenance parts (belt/roller) are both on amazon for under 10 bucks. I expect to change the belts and rollers on occasion and have this vacuum for a decade.It doesn't have any attachments. it just cleans the carpets and floors superbly well. We've used it downstairs on wood and rugs and tile with no issues and it has pulled up loose pet hair and cat litter with no problems.Give it a go. Best vacuum I've ever owned.
