Initially, I thought that the clips at the back were the wrong way round, but realised that they can be arranged in either directions.. After careful examination, and a fingernail scratch, and a sniff for "leather-y smell", it really seems as though the "leather-look" parts are actually leather. And the metal fittings are very nice. I bought them for fancy dress, but in future will be quite comfortable to wear them with my dinner jacket.
