My understanding most of the odor is caused from bacteria feeding and off gassing. Product accelerates process eliminating food source and off gassing. Disinfectants also work as they kill the bacteria. Unfortunately all the long lasting disinfectants removed from market as they tend to harm people as well. If food source remains new bacteria find it and odor returns. This type of product best for long term success Must be applied liberally-has to touch all the waste Disinfectant or chemical residue may kill the bacteria/enzymes Moisture and slightly warm(72-85 degrees) help the bacteria Apply by pour or coarse spray. Mist will be inhaled and irritate lungs. I have 29 years carpet cleaning and pet deo **Q: Has anyone used this on subfloor before replacing carpet?** A: I did. We had to rip out the carpet after a major doggie disaster. Helped immensely. **Q: Is this used full strength?** A: if you use this full strength on your carpet, beware. if left unrinsed for several hours, it will eat up the carpet fibers. so dont leave for too long. also, the enzymes are so strong that your tongue will start going numb just from being in the same room and that wasnt even a half strength amout. best application ive found, my monthly personal experience, is that for animal stains, dilute as directed for carpet shampooing machines. never use overly hot water because it ills the enzymes. leave the washing application on the carpet up to an hour before rinsing. let enzymes do their job. 50% enzymes with 50% water is good for a spray bottle to clean messes but for heavens sake, blot up the chemical then rinse and blot that up too. ive got a few etches in my carpet because people here are too lazy and dont bother blotting and rinsing. i cant imagine the damage this chemical would do to clothing fibers. **Q: does this clean mold?** A: It would not be my first thought to use this product for mold. I don't think of it as any kind of antiseptic.
