What is the internal diameter at the clips?** A: They will fit in a 5" diameter hole. The are flush just like a regular can. **Q: Is this a kit that includes everything needed - housing, trim, bulb, and power connection?** A: These will replace EXISTING lamps that use PAR or halogen bulbs. Installation is relatively simple. You will need to have housing...remove the trim and bulb. These have an electrical "pig tail" w/ a attachment to screw into the existing regular lamp base...attach a couple springs (or clips) to the EXISTING HOUSING, push into place, and you're done. **Q: Will I need a thermal protector inside the recess can?** A: No because led doesn't produce heat. You simple remove the old lights, then connect the power clip, compress and insert the mounting arms, and voila you are done. I had recently replaced the standard on/off switches with dimmers so I could adjust the lighting given different needs. I originally thought I would just replace the old bulbs with updated LED ones. I went with Hyperkon BR30 LED bulbs and they flickered on anything but full power so I returned them.I have 8, 6 inch cans in my kitchen so this package worked perfectly for me The time consuming part for me was figuring out how to remove the old fixtures and then how the spring loaded clips worked on the new Bioluz fixture. I am pretty handy, but I am not a professional electrician. The instructions and graphics regarding how these clips worked were very sketchy. Perhaps a professional electrician would have known how these clips worked, but I did not. I think most people intend to install these themselves, and they can as I did, but they did not make it as simple as I think it could have been with adequate instructions.The Bioluz fixture comes with 2 "clips" per fixture. Each amounts to a stout wire with a U bend in each end. See the picture attached. The slight bend in the wire in the picture is from me trying to get it to go into the existing can for quite a while. Each wire clip is approximately 8 inches long with a 2 coil loop in the center similar to that in a rat trap spring. As it turns out, you have to bend each of the U bend wires end to end and then have both U bend ends fit in between the 1 inch openings in a clip in the old can that resembles a small metal "C". Once you have each end of all 4 ends of the springs inside the opening of the "C" on both sides, you then push the new fixture up to get it to secure. It is not easy, especially working over your head. The springs kept popping off of the plastic clip that held them in place just as I thought they were in. Very frustration. That is why I am not giving these 5 stars.They work great now that they are installed, but that could have been soooo much easier with some instructions on the clips. They do not flicker at all from full on to low and I love that.
