## Description

If you're tired of hard PVC hoses that crack or collapse when bent, try using silicone tubing instead. Once you use silicone tubing, you won't go back. Silicone is UV resistant; it does not age and deteriorate outdoors. The tube is very pliable and stretchy, allowing you to make tight turns and stretch it over barbs that are a little too big. This size (1/8 * 1/4) is quite small - for example fuel lines on small power equipment use this size. This tube has a thick 1.6mm wall so it can accommodate a bend radius of approximately 10mm - you can make a 1 inch U-turn without the tube collapsing when empty. And what is so awesome about silicone, is that even if it collapses, it will spring back without any creases, because the material is incredibly stretchy and resilient to damage.

**Q: I see it is rated for 500 degrees. Do you think I could push it to around 510-525? It would have ambient pressure water flowing through it.**
A: No. To put what follows in plain english, it will behave like an elbow macaroni in a pressure cooker - transforming into a distended gelatinous form before turning into complete mush. Here's a less evocative description of what happens. The tubing may withstand 500°F dry for a short time.  300°F steam will break down the siloxane bonds in most types of silicone tubing, only a few special formulas of silicone will provide service that hot.  Water boils at 212°F at atmospheric pressure or 0 psig, at 300°F to be a liquid the pressure has to be over 55 psig, at 500°F to be a liquid the pressure has to be over 675 psig. The available literature suggests that at a fraction of that pressure materials migrate into elastomers and form pockets within them changing the elastomer's properties. The combination of water, termperature, and pressure won't work out well for silicone, and I'm not sure you will find a flexible tubing that will work.

**Q: Anybody knows what the durometer hardness (Shore A) of this tubing is? Thanks.**
A: 1/8 x 1/4 that we sell is SHORE-A 50 hardness.

**Q: can you use it in a bottom load water  cooler**
A: As long as your device calls for 1/8" ID tubing and will not exerting too much negative or positive pressure in the tubing, it should be fine. It states it is BPA and lead free; food safe, medical safe.

**Q: can this be used for an RO water filtration system and a low ph?**
A: Yes, you can certainly use it in all water filtration applications. Silicone will not react to low pH (acidic water), with the exception of the presence of hydrofluoric acid, which of course will not be present in your water.
