If you love high performance pedals and you're a glutton for physical torture and love pain? Then get a pair of these!!!

This one great pair of pedals! I used to have these way back about 5 years ago when I was still riding 24" bmx bikes which I gave to my nephew. This types of pedals are notoriously brutal on your legs particularly on your shins IF your foot happens to unfortunately slips off then this pedal would take a huge chunk of flesh of your shins! But as for being a very effective "No Slip", these pedals are the way to go. It also looks really scary from people seeing these pedals and they help but comments and give you warnings on not slipping on it and for good reason. My advice if you wanted a pair of these pedals is to keep a sure footings on it and wear Vans slip on shoes or running snickers with very soft soles. The also other negative side about these pedals is that you can't pedal your bikes using these if your'e using your bare feet and I'll recommend on you not doing that. These pedals also comes with chrome moly axles so you have full peace of mind on not bending them. I highly recommend these pedals provided you have to be extremely careful using these especially using them for free riding downhill mountain bikes. These can replace your clip less pedals.

    my favorite pedal type.

First off, I have used this pedal design in the 80s and looked everywhere for its modern day equal, at a good price.VP's seem identical to the ones I ran with back then, so I have experience the pedal bite you can get from this style.Other reviewers have stated they come a bit tight in the bearings out of the package, and this was true for the ones Ireceived. However I know why, the tightness lessens the chance of these pedals biting you, at a loss of spin. It took lessthan 5 minutes, to loosen the bearing cone and make them spin nicely. The beauty in the platform shape of this pedal, was you could place your foot on the pedal at any angle and get grip. This was for tricks and really aggressive riding, however the work wonderfully in much calmer, mixed weather commuting.Since I purchased them, I had a minor accident and dented the left pedal, easy fix, I removed the outer cage, and reshaped with pliers.I had also debated on black or just silver, I bought black, but the dent scratched the paint so I stripped off the paintto the aluminum underneath. In retrospect, I would have just bought the silver. I suggest clear coating the paint, if you want toavoid scratches.I've taken these pedals out in an massive flood, waist high water, mud on my boots, and the pedals grabbed onto my soles, with the mud or water not effecting grip. Cheap plastic pedals or ones with very small studs for grip, would have made me slip offthe pedals, and that can be really painful.Plus they are good size and not a tiny platform, if you have larger feet, you will feel like you have solid support beneath you.I couldn't be happier with the pedals, for the price, almost the same as the ones I bought, geez 30 years ago.Now if you are new to this shape of pedal, be ready to get bitten, it will happen, back of the calf, lick of the shin, you havetwo cougars strapped on your pedal arms. Treat it like having a dangerous pet, it will make you blood brothers to all bear cage pedals.I don't mind, for the "any where I put my foot I have solid grip" and they look beastly on the bike to boot.

TOUGH IS NOT GRIPPY ENOUGH, GRIPPY ENOUGH IS NOT TOUGH ENOUGH. Wait .. MAYBE THIS ONE IS BOTH??

OOOHHHHH - these are the pedals. You're right, dude in one of the reviews before me -- a nice big platform with SHARP BITE YOUR LEG OFF CLEATS -- is actually safer than smaller platform cleat or BMX style metal pedals with NO (explicative deleted by poster) GRIP!!I also owned the DOUBLE METAL CLEAT ONE - which I loved - but the bearings were shot in 6 months -- and when I went to put in new bearings - the shaft on the one I left on the bike had somehow / someway bent like silly putty. This one, we are told, is tougher than Donald Trump at the free buffet table. (ONLY KIDDING!!)
