This one, I felt like there were some odd tangents that seemed politically driven, but that was only new the beginning.I felt a lot better when they started pointing out that anyone with a firearm needs to be aware they could be anyone's working model for an opinion on firearm owners, thus anyone owning a firearm must be a paragon with it. They point out that firearms aren't for everyone without the mocking tone I typically hear when most people say that. They even detail considerations I feel like more people with firearms I wish more people thought of.Where I feel this book really shines is with their explanations of where women's self defense classes fall short of practicality and detailed counts of altercations that actually happened.I typically tell people the best thing they can do for self defense is to study violence to know what they'd be preparing for, and these two authors are exceptionally knowledgeable on the subject. This is a great read despite some awkward tangents from the start with detailed clarification later. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Excellent, Easily Understood Treatise on Violence *by J***D on Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2016* This is a very comprehensive exploration of violence and how it applies to a wide variety of areas of modern society. To me it was an eye-opener that solved a major riddle I have had for most of my life concerning why people in positions of responsibility and authority do such stupid things contrary to the good of the people they are suppose to serve. The author's premise is that although highly educated they do not have the understanding of what they are talking about and "Consequently, when the folks in charge legislate solutions to things they know very little about you can bet your bottom dollar that at best they’re going to treat symptoms rather than underlying causes. Oftentimes they create unintended consequences that are more harmful than the problem they were trying to solve. Ultimately, they’re going to make you feel good, perhaps, but they’re not going to keep you safe." - - - This book definitely has solved this dilemma for me as well as others.The authors also clarify many other concepts such as the difference between self-defense (which is is legal) and fighting (which is illegal), the levels of appropriate response to an attacker, and the actions that often result in criminal charges. There are many examples pulled from real life events that illustrate what the authors are presenting. In short, this is an excellent read. It was fun, informative, and mind-opening. I highly recommend this for everyone especially those who are are thinking about or new to being a sheep-dog. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get it!
