Over the years, I have been coloring my hair a lot more and now I may have high porosity hair. I realized this isn't marketed for high porosity hair, but it is very moisturizing. I used this product as my cream and I let it sit on my hair over night; I first wash and air dry my hair and then use the LOC Method. I apply a liquid (water and/or my leave in conditioner) then a natural oil (I use coconut oil), then the cream (Shea Moisture Curl Enhance). After all of that I do twist on my hair and then I wrap my hair in a scarf and go to bed. When I woke up my hair was very curly (once I removed the twists). It was very curly and my hair felt really soft. I will be using this product often. In the morning I use this product with coconut oil as coating to continue to moisturize my hair. It smells really good and you can even use it alone if you don't like too much product. A little goes a long way. Just a quarter worth is enough to coat my whole head; however, if your hair is longer you might use more (at most a 2 dollar coins worth). I am so confused.** A: This Shea Moisture smoothie is for dry hair that is naturally curly. It is a product that gives your dry hair the moisture it needs so it can feel silky and it helps with frizz and adds shine. If you use too much it will weigh your hair down. If you don't have dry hair it will make it feel greasy. I have read some of the reviews and I cannot stress enough, you do not need to use very much of this product, I think from some of the comments people are using way too much. This product is not a styling gel or a hold gel, it is to Enhance naturally curly hair. I feel it makes my dry hair smoother (as in, not brittle feeling and touchable).These are a couple of different ways I have used it:Most recently I used it after washing my hair with moisturizing shampoo/conditioner. (currently I just used Pantene, I switch this up on occasion, but find I don't need an expensive brand) after patting my hair dry with my microfiber towel, I section my hair into 4 and put a dab (just put the tip of your finger in the product) on a section by rubbing it in my fingers and through the hair. My hair is just past my shoulders. At that point, I style it the way I want it to be and I just let it air dry because my hair is already starting to curl before I get to the 3rd section (not because of the smoothie, but because I have naturally curly hair) . After it is partially dry, I then scrunch it up a bit with my hands and put some Cantu argan oil leave in conditioner on the tips of my fingers and put this on the very ends of my hair (I do this because my hair is super dry, you don't have to).Day 2: I don't wash my hair on day 2 or 3 (unless I went swimming or something). I just wet it down a little and put a small amount maybe a size of a nickel rub it in my hands and fluff it through my whole head of hair. For me this keeps the frizz away, gives it shine and bounces my curls back up. Also, I usually lay my head to sleep on a satin pillowcase. I have found that cotton pillow cases break my hair. Also, you can put it in your hair as mentioned above and then either braid or twist your hair in sections (probably 10-14 small sections), and sleep like that so it dries and then when you take the braids or twists out, it will make nice waves or curls. There are many u tube videos on twist outs and braiding. I have used countless and I do mean countless so called moisturizers claiming to moisturize the hair and make it soft and supple at the same time. Well to say the least many of the other products that I've tried does not even come close to this. I've used to name just a few IC gel, Hawaiian Silky 14 n 1, S Curl no drip and many more. And in my opinion for my hair type nothing comes close to this. First the fragrance alone will make you fall in love with it. Second but not last is the moisturizing affects it has on my hair. I am a 3c/4a hair type and it has been a true struggle for me to find what really works well in my hair. Well this is definitely it. Next month I will order at least 5 jars to ensure I will not run out. It does what it says it will do without a doubt. The only negative thing I can say about it and I'm not speaking of the product but more so the availability of it. I had to order this online through Amazon! I am a regular shopper on Amazon, but sometimes the shipping cost gets to me.
