I've used them for art journaling as well as scrapbooking to keep my photos and memories in. I am a mixed media artist and tend to use A LOT of water in my projects. I use a lot of acrylics, collage, pen and ink, matt medium, ink sprays, etc. I can say that the spines have held up as well as the paper. I have not found a journal that has paper as thick as this. I do gesso just about every page if Im doing mixed media. But there's still the fact that I use a lot of water and it leaks into the spine. My journals have held up nicely. I cant emphasize enough how good the paper is for mixed media. I have bought other mixed-media journals and even with the gesso prep, the paper isnt as thick. I would definitely invest in this journal if you are considering it. There can be a learning curve if you are new to journaling so hang in there. Based on the products you are using, you may need to figure out how to protect pages underneath and I do that by just putting a piece of paper behind the page Im working on. It also depends on the products you are using. You may not need that at all.
