I was able to fit a base layer, a fleece sweater, a down vest, and even a light down jacket under this fleece jacket. Kept me warm in -35 weather in the arctic. I have not found another fleece as thick as this one; it's well made...and in Canada. There were times I went outside with this fleece and layers without my outer coat and did okay. As others have stated, Taiga's customer service will confirm with you what size you want on the phone and warn you that it's slightly on the large size. But in case it's helpful to others, I am 5'5", 117 lbs, and I ordered a size 4 and I was able to fit above layers inside the fleece and still fit this fleece inside a long down jacket. It is exactly as I expected which is Great!!! I had lived in the white mountains in NH for 4 yrs in the 80's. This is the quality of the fleece we had available to purchase , back then. Now, the consumer is lucky to get a 200, which is not nearly as warm. I have utilized the Northface brand with some success. But as u probably know it was only 200. That purchase was a couple of years ago and the blackest they had was charcoal. Also last year's Northface design has little polar fleece and more of other materials. They want u to buy the outer layer to snap the fleece onto. So it really is not a fleece unto its own. The elbows have worn to an obvious grey. I mention this as I have enough experience with keeping warm and what works and what is obviously a "fashion statement" primarily. I ordered it a size big so I could layer under it. It is very lightweight but so warm ! The color is great (demin) and it is warm on our very windy, cold days we experience. My tracking info did not update after the 2nd day so after a week of not hearing anything, I got in touch with the company. They were very reassuring and told me to give a couple of days and they thought it would be delivered. It came the next day! I would recommend this to anyone who doesn’t like to wear a heavy coat, but likes the warmth of one.
