Triticale is a hybrid of Wheat (Triticum) and Rye (Secale). Triticale seeds were developed as a hybrid less than a hundred years ago, and were bred in an effort to solve world hunger. **Q: Can these triticale sprouting seeds be cooked like wheat berries or rye berries?  From the can it isn't clear, it looks like they are for growing only**
A: I have cooked them.  When I researched the seeds, it said to soak them overnight before cooking.  I also "sprout" them and sprinkle them on my salads!

A: I don't used them for people. 😁 I soak them and give them to my chickens, along with other grains. Pro biotic for hens.

Low quality grain, unexpected amount of chaff and discolored berries. Probably fine for sprouting if that’s your thing but I was hoping to use for porridges & pilaf dishes, ended up grinding the majority for bread.
