This particular brand of Matcha is culinary grade which is usually best suited for mixing such as into smoothies, or baking more than it is for drinking. Although culinary grade is suitable for drinking on its own it normally is not as good tasting as the more expensive supreme or ceremonial grades of Matcha.This Matcha comes in a re-sealable package with some basic directions and a description indicating this is Japanese origin Matcha. The better quality Matcha tends to be grown in Japan. The brewing directions indicate using 1 teaspoon Matcha for an 8 ounce cup. In my opinion, unless you really like a strong tea, I really think that is too much Matcha powder to use. I personally use a tip of a teaspoon with 16 ounces or water to make my Matcha and it is perfectly fine for me.This Matcha has a nice green color and smells fresh and smells like what you expect Matcha to smell like.There are various recipes for making Matcha tea with some of those recipes being a bit more complex than others. For me, I use a little less time consuming way that works for me. I pour hot water into the large cup (usually 16 ounces) and then add a small amount of Matcha, about a quarter of a teaspoon. I then add some frothed milk along with some sugar and then mix together. With Matcha, the more you use, the more bitter it tends to be. Premium grades tend to be smoother in taste than the culinary grades in that respect. Also, if you use too much, the tea will taste sandy or powdery. Of course, everyone’s taste is different so if you are new to using Matcha, you have to find the appropriate amount to your taste. As a tea this tastes about what an average culinary grade of Matcha tastes. Although I don’t think this is as good or as smooth as the supreme or ceremonial grades and is better suited for mixing or baking, this does taste about what an average culinary Matcha should taste like. It this brand my favorite Matcha, no, but this does taste fine as a tea to me. I didn't know how great PaleoCrazy was until I compared it with another brand. PaleoCrazy Matcha is a vibrant green with a smooth flavor. It dissolves easily in liquid, and gives me a sustained sense of well-being. The Lightening Deal Matcha was a dull green/grey, chalky, and added a slight bitter taste to any fruit juice I used. I'm not drinking this stuff for the taste I'll tell you that, but for the health benefits. I do NOT get a flu shot anymore as they were having a profound affect on my immune system and actually making me more susceptible to viral infections. As an alternative, I take advantage of natural preventative measures, this tea being one and it's like a big shield of defense against viruses, bacteria, etc. I went for 3 years without so much as a cold and I will attest to this day that it was because I was a broke college student at the time and went without insurance those years and I drank green tea daily, in conjunction with a good diet.
