If your kid has the shortest draw length they will simply release the arrow when they reach that length and it will be at the minimum weight listed, but they will not reach the let off point. He was still on his pajamas, but wanted to try it. It was cold so he only took 4 shots. He hit the target with all 4. He likes it very much. I tried it out before him to make sure my makeshift target would work. On the first shot the arrow rest came off. I may use gorilla glue or epoxy for it next time. I shot 14 arrows after that and hit the target with all. It was quite windy and the shots weren’t terribly consistent, but I have no training at archery either. Overall I am happy with the purchase and would recommend it for anyone wanted to gauge a beginner’s interest without a huge financial investment. Original review: Bought as a present for my son. It arrived quickly and is just what I was looking for to judge his interest in picking up archery as a hobby.
