This product has a very high quality for the price. It finds metal and coins with no problem at all and it shows you what it found. When I dig it up it is what is says it is. How cool is that? I love the multi tool and case it comes with. It takes two 9 volt batteries. You can get them for a good price on Amazon. Have fun and find something cool or maybe even valuable. I bought this for my tween son. He has used it a few times and it works. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star review is because while assembling it I realized some of the parts are not as sturdy as I would have liked. We have not used it in water yet but he has found many little interesting things (mostly coins) around our neighborhood. I would be fine suggesting this product for a beginner without hesitation.
