Review: Tricky to start, but worth the wait! - I waited to write a review because it took some time to figure these out. I spent months trying to get them to germinate with no luck. Last ditch effort was soaking them overnight in a cup of water before sowing in my Click & Grow, and... SUCCESS!! The plants grew very slowly in the beginning, and it took almost 6 months in the Click & Grow before I felt comfortable transplanting to my yard. I figured since I live in the Phoenix desert (Zone 9b) it would be happy in full sun, and boy was I right! My white sage plant has been outside 2 years now, and I leave it be until it's time to harvest in the spring (April-May). It gets a little unwieldy by harvest time if you don't trim it back, as pictured, but I prefer leaving it until it's filled out before cutting. Final picture is about half the bundles I made from this year's harvest. The plant smells amazing and does well on the drip system with the rest of my plants. Not sure how it would do in other climates, but Arizona desert doesn't seem to be much different than it's native California one. So be patient and willing to try the seeds a couple different ways. They are tricky to get started, but once you find out what works, you won't be disappointed!
Review: Not a beginner herb! - I planted nearly the whole packet in about 3-4 different ways using sandy soil: Indoors in pods with a heating pad, outdoors in pods, in a large pot, and on a wet paper towel in a plastic bag. The paper towel method has seen some sprouts, and I set that up 3 days ago. As of this morning, I've counted 4 sprouts on the paper towel. I won't see anything in the soil for a while. But I figured I'd make sure people know that these seeds are indeed viable; it's just difficult to convince white sage to start growing. Do lots of research and you should be good to go.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how many seeds?**
A: Probably about 200, they are tiny. I would guess less than a quarter of a teaspoon volume.

**Q: Has anyone tried growing these in an aero garden or hydroponically?**
A: Yes I just found the best way to start them was to leave them in just a cup or bowl of water for 24 hours the ones that float are bad and won't grow the ones that sink will start opening and you can from there figure out how to plant them. Also they don't seem to like the rock medium I use the sponge stuff. So far I have about 12 little plants

**Q: What growing zones are these suitable for? Im in Ohio**
A: I don’t know. Planted the whole package and didn’t get anything. Waste of time and money.

**Q: Is this sage an annual plant?**
A: I am not sure. I bought it because it is white sage which is used for Native American
blessings.

### ⭐ Poor seed quality/ germination/ growth
*by D***D on May 15, 2025*

Have purchased these seeds for years. While not an easy grow I have enjoyed many white sage plants. However this year the seeds did not do as they have years past; and same growing methods/conditions. They germinated, grew about 2-5mm then rotted off and died. Every single one. I used all four packs I had purchased. Very disappointed. Either source seeds are different / seeds were contaminated.
