I had been trying to use old fashioned chalk but it wasn't working well at all. Seems they don't make chalk like I remember from school. Maybe it is my "board" maybe it is the chalk? Thought I would try the Liquid Chalk and it is AMAZING. After the first prolonged "priming" which had me worried at first, it is right there ready for you to use. The writing is clear and clean and I can get so many more items on my little board than before AND without the frustration of trying to make the regular chalk write. It removes completely and easily with a slightly damp cloth, sponge or paper towel.My one caution: the first time, after vigorously shaking, you GENTLY but PERSISTENTLY prime the marker by pressing the tip on a hard surface until the liquid flows. Don't press too hard as the directions warn or you can damage the tip. And don't give up because it took me longer than I expected like a couple of minutes. I was concerned it would take this long EVERY TIME I wanted to make a note but that isn't the case. Once primed it is quick to offer up its juice so I can quickly jot my list and To Do notes.You will like this product as long as your surface is non porous. It would be perfect for the chalk board labels for jars and canisters too as it won't come off until you take it off. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent markers for large projects *by R***G on Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2014* I do wedding calligraphy and recently used these markers for two large window pane menus. They worked perfectly and the final product turned out amazing! The bride and groom were ecstatic with the results. I've also had great luck with these markers making place cards on large philodendron leaves and they worked great.That being said the tip on these markers is quite large (4mm) and is best suited for large scale projects, which is what I needed them for - each window pane stood about 4ft tall. If looking for a marker for small labels or smaller detail projects I would suggest a much smaller size, around 1mm or so.It is also very important to prime these markers correctly and to re-prime as working so that the ink does not dry and begin writing in a thin transparent color. However if you follow the instructions they work beautifully!Also note the manufacture warning against using them on porous surfaces. I tried them out on a chalkboard I made myself using chalkboard paint and an old piece of framed art and it stained my board so that it now has to be repainted. This was of course my fault because they explicitly state not to use them for porous surfaces. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine, some caveats *by E***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2015* I bought these to use on chalkboard contact paper (vinyl), and they work great for that. I also tested them on a tin covered with acrylic chalkboard paint and they worked fine there, too. Out of curiosity I tried one on a varnished wood surface, and that also wiped clean with just a damp cloth, as did a smooth-faced rock I found in my backyard. I suspect they would work fine on natural slate, but alas, I don't own any.
