They're clearly marked with an L and R for where to install them, and once on I immediately noticed a difference. They are quite wide, which is great for getting more purchase on the pedals. As others have noted, the metal spikes on each side hold your shoes very securely. I image they may tear up the soles of some shoes if you pivot your feet on the pedals a lot (I don't because I simply can't; my feet don't move a millimeter once I place them on the pedals!). These give me a very secure footing on my pedals and allow me to not think twice about my feet over sliding off the pedals. They feel very solid and high quality. I bought the orange color and I think they look awesome.
