I finally got around to replacing it after years of neglecting to do so and it was pretty painless. All you need to do is carefully pop the headband off, making sure to not pull too hard because there is a wire braided into it for some odd reason. Then you just cut the plastic to free the wire, tape the wire down to the top and pop the replacement headband on. The color is a bit darker than the original, but it's a closer than I was expecting and still matches with the headset. The replacement band has decent padding and while I can't say if it's thick as the original (I couldn't compare, because like I said it was falling apart) I didn't feel any noticable difference when wearing them for a prolonged period of time. Review: Replaces the original Gold Wireless headband pad perfectly. Shame that it's needed though - I recently got a great deal on a pair of Gold Wireless headphones to use on my PS3, but the earpads and headband fabric were both in rough shape.
