Fact checked with magnesium society's description of the beneficial magnesiums and it seems very accurate. Long story short, I will no longer be getting this brand, citrate is not the way to go, it may contain arsenic (as one person mentions in the reviews and questions that third party testers found it). Mag citrate actually pulls water into your intestines, which can lead to dehydration. What’s worse, this type of magnesium can reduce ceroplasmin levels, leading to mineral imbalances and deficiencies. Finally, there is evidence that the most popular magnesium citrate on the market may contain high levels of arsenic (the original reason our family ditched it several years ago). Magnesium hydroxide- like magnesium citrate, magnesium hydroxide moves the bowels by drawing water into the colon. In addition, side effects include nausea, fatigue, and loss of appetite. Magnesium aspartate and glutamate- because the amino acids aspartate and glutamate are excitotoxins, it’s important they do not become imbalanced. It’s an absolute must for myself and others, including the girl at the grocery who also swore by it for her anxiety.) Sleep deprivation also increases anxiety. These are simple, but huge factors in anxiety attacks. It’s why I take the allergy med, to go to sleep and stay asleep, so I have less anxiety. Walking it off helps some, too, unless your heart is racing and you’re already sleep deprived, dehydrated, and exhausted. Then it just makes it worse for me. I have to be calm already, or not past that point of no return. Then walking or exercise in general helps the long term effects. But making your heart race when you’re already extremely anxious doesn’t help, not for me, anyway. *Sometimes sufficient water and electrolytes, a decongestant if your lungs or sinuses are congested, and some rest is all you need to get things working right again*, so don’t freak that it’s something serious. It usually isn’t. And read the decongestant labels. Some have ingredients that make anxiety worse. I had to use the 4 hr, and not the 12 hr of the type I got. The 12 hour had something that increases heart rate/blood pressure. Just some things that affected mine and have been mentioned on medical pages, not professional medical advice from me. I hate to see anyone have anxiety and nowhere to turn. It often hits people late at night, when others are asleep and there’s no help. Has anyone else seen this?** A: The simple truth is that Natural Calm both meets its potency label claim and is well within the No Significant Risk Levels for arsenic and in fact is less than 10 percent of California's Prop 65 stringent safe threshold levels. This has been consistently scientifically validated by third party test results from top American testing labs as part of standard Good Manufacturing Practices. Virtually everything that you eat and drink, is going to contain trace amounts of the "heavier" metals such as Arsenic, Lead, Cadmium and Mercury. The reason for this is that each of those minerals are founds naturally within the earth's soil and ocean waters. Fish and other food sourced from the ocean get it absorbed through their skin just from being in the water. That being said, in Labdoor's report, they used an upper limit of 0.1mcg/day for Arsenic as their "threshold", based off of a 2003 proposal that was never accepted or approved. As you can see, Labdoor arbitrarily used a limit 100x lower than what's already been established as being safe to consume. They state that they used the 0.1mcg for supplements as the 10mcg NSRL is only established for drinking water. However, they failed to factor in that the Natural Calm bonds with the water molecule and would therefore fall under the same guidelines for drinking water. To give you a little perspective, in a single serving of pasta or rice, there is going to be close to 7x the amount of Arsenic than there is in the Natural Calm.Further, when Labdoor did the testing on our product, they tested 10.66g and attributed the results of those quantities to a 4g serving size.
