The 5 hour ride was super quiet, no rattle sounds, no loose straps banging on the car or flapping in the wind, it was wonderful. I found the straps to be very strong and steady, despite some of the reviews I read. I have NO issue at all with the straps and was hauling 2 very large suitcases, back packs, and other items on the cargo carrier. In fact, after reading reviews of this product, I purchased the ratchet style straps to use, but had no need for them at all.
