## Overview

Dermalure's Salicylic Acid Peel 25% is a potent, medium-strength chemical exfoliant with a low pH of 2.2, designed to deeply penetrate pores and treat acne, hyperpigmentation, and premature aging. Its 30ml liquid formula offers cumulative skin benefits with weekly use, promoting clearer, brighter, and more even-toned skin for all skin types.

## Description

Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) and powerfully penetrates pores deep, making it an effect treatment for people prone to acne breakouts. It is an excellent exfoliant, preventing blackhead and whitehead formations as well. This process promotes a glowing complexion. Because Salicylic Peels exfoliate on the first use, initial acne breakouts are known to be normal. Either way, continual use of the product will improve acne symptoms and breakouts and skin health overall. This peel is a medium strength peel. It effectively treats inflammation, acne vulgaris, wrinkles, lines and uneven skin tone. This peel is ideal for normal skin as it neither too strong or weak.

Review: Feh - This is basically just salicylic acid in water. As such, since it is at such a high percentage, it exceeds the maximum saturation point. When I dip a clean qtip into the bottle and apply it to a clogged pore, it almost instantaneously leaves a white circle once the product’s water content has been absorbed. This white circle isn’t “frosting,” it’s not the acid inside the skin being active, it’s actually just useless wasted salicylic powder. In order for me to make that remaining powder useful, I would have to add additional water to it very carefully, but since I am not a chemist or a dermatologist, I then risk burning myself. So the only real option is to let the powder go to waste, which is, by its very nature, wasteful. For this reason, most companies when formulating strong peels, they will use more than just water, creating sort of gel matrixes so that all of the included ingredients can actually be useful rather than the equivalent of being thrown in the trash. I’m not sure at what percentage salicylic acid exceeds its maximum saturation point in plain water, I’ve had similar “crystal circles” left behind by 20% water-only products, but did not have this when using a 15% product, so maybe it’s 16% or 17% or 18%, I don’t know, but, needless to say, this product is not what I expected it to be. I used it on the same spot two days in a row, leaving it on for more than 20 minutes each time, and the accumulative effect is just about equal to the 15% salicylic gel matrix that I’ve used from another company. To be fair, this company probably doesn’t mix the salicylic with ONLY water, because it dries to quickly they most likely use some types of alcohols to make it shelf stable, this prevents it from being relentlessly “active” when applied to the skin, but I really do find this unnecessarily cautious (and, again, wasteful) because it’s assuming people will not rinse it off in the appropriate amount of time, it’s assuming people will not have neutralizers of any sort, it’s selling something labeled as 25% but not actually formulating in a way that it can live up to its potential. It really feels misleading, unfortunately.
Review: I don't like the strong smell coming from the peel - I don't like the strong smell coming from the peel. It stings my eyes. However, product does dry fast, is mess free, and seems to work fine.
